Wet Beds

Camden Town, United Kingdom

Greg: We experienced our first rainy day of the trip a couple of days ago. It didn't seem to be all that wet but apparently they had a month of rain in a day!

Tren and I came home from seeing "The Mousetrap" only to find our bed SOAKED! Rain was coming in from the light fitting, soaking trough Tren's hand luggage lid, through the doona, through the extra doona we put on the bed to stop the matress springs sticking into us, and right through the matress. The kitchen on the ground floor also had a dripping ceiling (from a different source).

Interestingly, we were on the second floor of the three storey House. The bedrooms on the floor above were unaffected!

We rang the landloord who told us of the inflatable matress - it went flat!

We got into the spare single bed together - it collapsed!

Eventually we spent a pretty uncomfortable night on the floor.

Rains expected tomorrow - I think I'll move the bed.

At Blockley

Blockley, United Kingdom

Greg Writing: Well we’ve been here three days and I can already see that holidays take up all your time. I’m not sure how much blogging we’ll get done but we’ll try to do some along the way, and show you a few pics.

So far everything has gone well. Tren and Colin got frisked at Perth airport, but the flights on Cathay Pacific were good (relatively speaking).
We are currently staying in the Cotswolds, in the town of Blockley in an old terrace cottage.
So far we have eaten in a pub near the airport which served to confirm all our views on pommy food; collected the hire van – very roomy considering we have 7 in it; experienced British motorways – very effective; tiny country lanes – quite scary; been to Chedworth Roman Villa – very interesting; Bath – very exhausting; Warwick Castle – impressive, but even more tiring; Hidcote Manor Garden - very beautiful; a Blockley pub meal that dispelled all our views on pommy food – quite nice; and Sainsburys – great range of products and prices quite similar to Australia.

I hope you enjoy reading this blog and that we get a few opportunities to actually do some entries. Off to another pub meal tonight – Tueday night is steak special night – roll on the mad cow disease.
