Day 1: Vilnius to Moscow with a bus

Vilnius, Lithuania

Unlike expectations, the Ecolines bus had air conditioning. Good, as I had 18 hrs of bus ride ahead of me and outside was +29...+34C warm.

On the bus I saw some Russian movie without subtitles and tried to sleep some. Finally during the night, we got to the border. Crossing the border from Latvia to Russia took only 1 hour. Little after the border, the bus refuelled 600 liters of diesel, which cost 10860RUB. I saw this from the window as I had seat number 1, front row.
In total, I slept maybe four or five hours in the bus. Should be enough for healthy adult male.

On the bus, I met two boys in their early twenties from England - Dan & Dan. They were heading to Vladivostok and Japan and had 30 liters backpack each. And I had 50 liters plus camerabag. Such a spoiled man I am.

In Moscow, the driver turned out to be very charismatic, honking the horn and "shooting" other drivers with his finger (plus sound effects). But he knew how to drive in the chaotic big city traffic.

Someone got off the bus on the highway. Seriously, there was not even exit there, not to mention a bus stop. Just a sleeping suburb nearby.

Off the beaten path I reign
