Can I Disable map?

I'm finding it virtually impossible to write any blog entries because every time I select the "write a new entry" option the PCs I am using nearly freeze.

I reckon it's the "really cool" maps to blame. I think it's just to heavy weight for the sort of PCs they have in internet cafes. The maps ARE cool, but not if the ruin everything else; it would be nice to be able to turn them off... at least while you are writing.

Good idea. I can feel your pain, having blogged from internet cafes in rural Cambodia. Next time I get a chance I'll see about giving you a "lightweight" mode that won't kill that poor 386!

That would be really cool. Any idea when this might be released? I'm tearing my hair out here, and I'm only in Saigon. I can't imagine what it'll be like when I get to rural Cambodia!

Ok, I just pushed a new build live that will notice if a page takes a long time to load and prompt you to switch into a low-bandwidth mode that disables the maps.

If you're browsing from Laos, you'll probably already see the little blue bar up top prompting you to make the switch and preserve your sanity. If not, you can switch it on manually too:

Hopefully that will make things usable for you again.
