Punta Fuego

A very relaxing beach would be preferred, especially if it was only two hours away from the city. This makes Punta Fuego an ideal escape. Punta Fuego which means Point of Fire, consists of an 88-hectare exclusive residential resort in Nasugbu, Batangas. It can be accessed by car via the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Tourism Highway.

When in Punta Fuego, one discovers 800 meters of twelve white sand beaches. The place also serves as a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with its underwater caves, rock formations, coral reefs, and other diving spots.

Perth

Perth, Australia

Perth is one of Australia's best tourist spots which is also the capital of Western Australia. Perth is also considered Australia's sunniest capital. On the West Bank of the Swan River, one can see the beautiful city.

Perth was discovered in 1829 by convicts heading to the area around the labour shortage. Then, Perth grew and bloomed during the 1890's due to discovery of gold. Today, the modern Perth has many stunning buildings, museums, churches, and skycrapers. Perth also offers great nightlife. The most popular nightlife area in the city is Northbridge which contains several nightclubs, restaurants, and bars.

Perth is also known for its beaches. One can find surfing excitement in Floreat, Leighton, Scarborough, Port, and Trigg Island, to name a few. Perth also has calmer beaches located in Peppermint Grove, Como, or Crawley.

As summer is fast approaching, Perth remains a superb tourist destination. Perth is undeniably a city to simply relax and enjoy.

The Summer Capital of the Philippines

Baguio, Philippines

I remember a very relaxing vacation in the Philippines two summers ago. My Filipino friends brought me to the Summer Capital of the Philippines which was Baguio City. I never imagined that a cool place such as Baguio existed in the tropical Island.

The city was fairly cold, but was very chilling at night. The famous Session Road boasted of fine restaurants and cafes. Burnham Park was very Filipino, with sights of family picnic, boat rides, and Field activities. Nightlife was very laidback with nightclubs such as City Lights, Red Lion, and the Legarda Strip. I also had the chance to visit Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club, which had vast Golf Courses and other great amenities.

I had very fond memories with my friends in Baguio. It was a very happy place to be, though filled with poverty. Baguio was just another awesome city in the country.

Yongala: The Best Dive

Townsville, Australia

Diving has been my passion and it brings me so much happiness watching the underwater beauty. I've always been fascinated with shipwrecks as well, and stimulates my imagination. I never encountered such beauty when I saw Yongala.

One of the best dive spots I've ever been to was the Yongala in Australia. It is the site of a shipwreck in Queensland, which sank during a cyclone in 1911 killing 122 people. From a distance, the Yongala outlined magnificent corals. Unerwater life was abundant. Throughout my diving career, never have I experienced deep sea creatures like turtles, sea snakes, Manta rays, tiger sharks, bull sharks, colorful fish and coral so beautiful. The feeling was very breathtaking and haunting at the same time, realizing that many people have perished there.

This is my best dive so far, and I feel a great sense of achievement. I would recommend every diver to schedule a dive in Yongala.

The King of Scuba Diving Sites

Gladstone, Australia

One of the best places I have ever been to is Heron Island in Queensland, Australia. I want to refer to it as the King of scuba diving sites in the whole world.

In the coral cay, I have experienced numerous kinds of creatures and lots of colorful coral. Some of the animals that I have seen underwater are swordfish, barracuda, jellyfish, and the best of them all, the great white shark. Heron Island has at least 20 diving sites, where you can scuba dive or snorkel day and night. The best time to catch a great dive is from April to December.

I only stayed there for a few days, and I have been already dreaming of my next trip to Heron Island. Perhaps, on my next visit, I should be trying a night adventure where I would be able to see the luminous creatures swimming gracefully under the sea. That would be King.

Sampaguita Beach

Batangas, Philippines

Whenever I visited the Philippines, I would always visit its beaches. There was one particular beach located South of Luzon in Batangas, that was simple yet beautiful. They called this the Sampaguita Beach, with its letters painted on wood..something you would normally see in sari-sari stores, a term coined by Filipinos which referred to a small convenience store.

I will always remember the Nipa Huts (native houses constructed out of bamboo tied together wih a thatched roof using Nipa leaves), the long tables made of long bamboo trunks under it were you can eat or sleep on, and the clear waters. The place is ideal for snorkeling since corals are already visible just a few meters from the shore. When I go snorkeling, I wear protective diving boots since there are lots of sea urchins sitting on the corals.

Just like my other excursions in the Philippines, the end of the day would be spent just drinking and chilling with the gentle sounds of the ocean. I will always treasure Sampaguita Beach.

Viva Venizia

Venice, Italy

Through the eyes of a tourist, Venice simply remains a vast and vague imagination of history and culture. The moment he sets foot on a gondola, the tourist discovers that Venice is a city divided into Cannaregio, Castello, Dorsoduro, San Marco, San Polo and Santa Croce. In Venice, the tourist also discovers magnificent buildings, channels, houses, museums, and festivals, Must see spots in the city are the canals, St. Marc's Basilica, St Marc's Square, Teatro La Fenice, Doge's Palace, and Campanile di San Marco.

Venice also offers World Class dining ang lodging experience. Shopping in Venice is a unique experience since the tourist has many options whether it be antiques, home accessories, jewellery, glassware, and modern fashion. The Venice lagoon consists of 118 islets in the sea, which connotes beauty. Venice is visited by thousands of tourists ever year, and truly remains one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Crocodile Island

Panay, Philippines

There was a time when I visited Panay in the Philippines where I discovered Crocodile Island. From afar you can see that the Island is shaped like a crocodile (or alligator, but it doesn't matter). It was hours away from the main island, and it was a very beautiful place.

Upon arrival, I glanced at the crystal clear waters that rocked the boat gently. The sand was white, and consisted of tiny shell particles. Lots of trees also existed, and there were different kinds of plants as well. We walked inside the island, and I was surprised to find a nice swimming pool with cozy outdoor sofas. There were also great seafood and fruit drinks. The Island itself was a club with great beaches. The people were very hospitable and nice. I spent the rest of the afternoon swimming, eating and sleeping. It was a very refreshing place.

Crocodile Island is one of the simplest but most relaxing places I've ever been too.

Pahiyas Festival

Quezon, Philippines

It was May when I discovered a very merry festival that is celebrated in the Quezon province, which was south of Luzon. The people celebrate the Pahiyas Festival which is a tribute to San Isidro Labrador. It is one of the merriest happenings in the country during the summer.

Because of heavy traffic, we were forced to park our van in a vacant space a few meters away from the streets. I switched into a wifebeater or sleeveless shirt because of the blistering heat. We walked the narrow streets and were surprised to find very colorful decorations that hung on the walls, doors and windows of each house. The specialty of the town is the pancit habhab and longanisa (local sausage) which were sold at the sidewalks. There were also processions of the San Isidro.

The best part of it was having a beer in the middle of the crowd during the hottest part of the day.

A Nearer Baguio

Tagaytay, Philippines

If you are looking for a cold place nearest to the city, I would suggest that you visit Tagaytay. Unlike Baguio which is located Miles away from the city, Tagaytay provides a very convenient getaway. And of course it costs less than going to Baguio City.

Tagaytay is situated in Batangas, near the famous Lake Taal. Tagaytay is not as cold as compared to Baguio, but its gentle winds and fine weather make it perfect for relaxation. There are a couple of clubs that provide great accomodation and recreation, such as Tagaytay Highlands. Some of the famous activities that you can do in Tagaytay are the followign: horseback riding, camping, dining, and even casino. When in town, it is a must to vist Mount Taal, which is a volcano in the middle of the Lake.

Tagaytay is one of the most accessible places that offers cool weather and great sights.
