Wongaling Beach

Well here we are in the house in Mission Beach (or more accurately Wongaling Beach). This is right on the edge of the forest and we can hear all manner of animals including Cicadas (very noisy insects) which do their best to try and keep you awake at night. It's stinger season (small jellyfish)...

Surfing and Kayaking

After Hervey Bay we headed to Noosa Heads for a short 2 night stay. Karl and Dan began by having 14 hours sleep the first night, partly due to the lack of decent sleep for almost two weeks. The next day we were up early for our surfing lessons on the beach. The two hours proved to be very...

Travelling to Cairns

Today we travelled to Cairns and then on to Mission Beach - Just a note or two to you all #1) There is no such thing as a short hop around Australia #2) Brisbane and Cairns have 2 airports (International and Domestic) and your ticket may not tell you which one you have to go to....

Oz-tralia, begins!

Really excited to be here in Australia! Arrived on the 18th and have been treated like royalty by my parents friends, Howard and Pam who have put us up for 4 nights. They have been showing off the amazing area as our personal tour guides! On the evening we arrived we went to The Dandenong...

Mt Coot-tha Lookout

After Australia Zoo, we met up with an old friend Drew (Pictured) and went to the Mt Coot-tha Lookout which offers excellent views of Brisbane. We ate a local delicacy called Moreton Bay Bugs!! They actually taste like lobster and are really nice.

Movie World

In an effort to stay awake we went to Movie World, we woke up at 2am, so it's coffee (or cola+sugar) and adrenaline. We got very wet on the water ride (Chris' favourite) and playing in the fountains. Sally's favourite ride was the Scooby Doo ride - "a sort of a 'mouse trap' in the dark and you...

Safari Adventures

After another gruelling all night Greyhound bus journey we arrived in Hervey Bay (aka Torquay) ready for our self drive safari around Fraser Island. The Safari was due to start at 7am the next day so, as we are such sensible people, we decided to go out and get wasted to celebrate the 2...

Brisbane

Well we arrived and we have absolutely no idea what our bodies think the time is. Just a quick comment on our trip - Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 is a mess (dirty) and chaotic (security - honestly lets stop the hysteria - after arriving 3 hours before our flight we only had 30 mins to grab...

Australia Arrival

We arrived in Cairns after the strictest of all customs checks. After stopping off at Darwin, we were greeted by sniffer dogs and questions from customs, then we got the same treatment in Cairns. We got to our hostel at about 9am ready for some well earned sleep after our overnight flight only...
