I think we should buy a toaster

"Je ne parle pa francais". I remember that from French. To be more precise, I remember that from year seven French taught by Madam Parker. She was a nasty lady. Probably still is. So, when I say I don't speak French, it's probably very lucky that there are so many people in French-Canadia...

A bit of old world charm

After being wowed in Montreal with the architecture, Quebec city knocked my socks off. The old city itself has been fantastically maintained, with the original city walls intact, rambling cobbled lanes and houses and hotels older than anything in Australia. The first thing we did upon arrival,...

chirpy birds must die

Well, a very good morning to everyone. It is now about 6:30am, which is a whole hour past when I dragged myself out of bed this morning. I know, it's not the bird's fault that it has to chirp it's happy little chirping. Nor is it the bird's fault that I had a skin full last night and am now...

My friend's got three kidneys.

From Toronto, the bus ride to Niagara Falls is actually only two hours. There are lots of ways to get there, you can pay for any number of tours etc etc. We opted for the cheap way, left our hostel in the morning and headed to the Greyhound station with all of hour stuff. Sarah had no faith...

Bonjour!

That is as much french as I can muster. What we intended to be a two night stay in Montreal, became three…and then five. We completely lucked out with our hostel, which I would have to say is one of my favourite hostels I’ve been too, and I really wish we had been there while it was packed...

Arrival

I arrived in Vancouver a couple of days ago and after a series of doctor's appointments, vaccinations, and wisdom teeth removals, I'm ready for adventure!

Those kidneys eh

The bus here was fantastic! We went via the great lakes to Toronto, and it was some of the most amazing scenery in Canada. It`s hard to comprehend that such a huge expanse of water is only a lake. And if that isn`t enough reason for us to have spent 4500km already on the bus...we also get to...

Yo, ya ma.

If I had to describe Toronto in one word, and one word only... It would be... "better-than-Thunder-Bay". Hyphens make more than one word into one word right? Good, I thought so :) The Greyhound ride to Toronto from Thunder Bay was actually not as harrowing as I thought it might be. Probably...

Jump in the waterfall, it's REALLY safe!

Leaving Saskatoon to go to Thunder Bay was a slightly sad experience. It had been absolutely fantastic to see Stu and hang out for a week or so. Also, meeting Amanda and Andrew was great! Arriving into Thunder Bay after 20 hours on a bus was... Interesting. The cab driver at the Greyhound...

So, I might be afraid of heights...

Arriving into ThunderBay in the evening...things were a little off kilter from the beginning. From our taxi driver, trying VERY hard to take us to the Super 8 Motel, even when we gave him the exact address of the our hostel. The fact that he said we were going to be in a dodgy part of town,...
