16 months here

The kittens are 3 month now and the female one (Phia) is already in Kratie to start her new life with Abi. She has a new name now, called: Rocky Lobster, as far as I'm aware. The other two I am still in the process of "selling". Even wrote an article in our local volunteers...

Welcome to a good world!

My kittens have arrived and finally get the treatment they diserve. Otherwise I was busy helping the RTC prepare for one week of Training and to organize and facilitate the annual Health Sector Workshop. Of course with appropriate celebrating afterwards! So why did I use this title? I...

Sihanoukville, Kampot & Kep

From Kompong Cham, we had a few nights back in Phnom Penh before travelling to Sihanoukville on the coast. It felt good to be back by the sea and be able to dip our toes in the water. We had heard varying reports of the place so we were a little intrigued to see what it was like for ourselves....

moved and still alive!

Hello everyone. Nearly two weeks, I finally managed to empty my old house and moved a few houses down the road, to my new home. From a big giant wooden 2 bedroom house on stilts with River view, I've downsized to 2 rooms in a house, where I now live with a Khmer family together. I...

Call it Serendipity

I finished at the farm on friday! My final week was fun, the last day was the best (except for it being the last day)! In the morning we scrubbed the floor of the "al fresco" dining area - not so fun when we first started but great once we'd turned the whole place into a soapy skating rink!...

Kratie & Kompong Cham

From Phnom Penh, we headed North East to a place called Kratie which is on the banks of the Mekong river. Our accommodation had an incredible outlook over the river and you could have dinner watching the sunset which was pretty cool – all this and it was the cheapest place we had stayed so far...

Phnom Penh

Although every place we had visited, has monuments relating to the war, all collectively known as the Killing Fields. Phnom Penh has perhaps the most moving memorials and museums relating to the the war in Cambodia. We visited the Killing Fields of Choeung EK, effectively it was an extermination...

I'm the farmer, I work in the fields all day.

It's been a busy few weeks so I haven't been able to write for a while! All is going well at the orphanage, I'm getting the hang of teaching now! I'm sad that I've only got a week to go with the kids. My morning class is great - I only have one girl so it's more of a private tutoring session but...

Battambang

We wanted to see as much of the country as possible so after a few days headed to Battambang – Cambodia’s second largest city. Although developing fast, Battambang was quite rustic, we checked out the centre and booked ourselves onto a cookery course for the next day. Unfortunately, what we ate...

beautiful Kep

Kep (Khmer: កែប, literally: "Saddle of the Horse") or Kep-sur-Mer in French is a southwestern province of Cambodia. It is subdivided into two districts (srŏk): Kep and Damnak Chang'aeur. Kep, which is located just a few kilometers from Ha Tien, the border with Vietnam, used to be Cambodia's...
