Farewell Angleterre

Why is it that the UK manages to screw up its road maintenance so badly? We have travelled 24 years in France without significant problems due to roadworks. The only times we have been held up significantly are because of a bad accident. The French appear to prefer rolling roadworks which...

Jumping in Saint Malo

After, Le Mont Saint Michel, time for sunny* Saint-Malo ! Charming medieval coastal city where your addiction for crepes (pancakes) and cider can be fulfilled beyond your craziest dreams. A weekend in Brittany without any rain ? You can't be serious. Actually, on the last day, the rain...

Honfleur

Instead of going to Honfleur, due to tides, we docked at [[France/Le-Havre]]. We took a 30 minute bus ride to Honfleur which is an old, quaint fishing village. This was the last day of our cruise and we're off to London tomorrow for a few days.

Wine country

Bordeaux is on the Gironde River and is located 70 kilometers up river from the Atlantic. We docked right downtown. Amazingly enough this river has a huge tide of 5 meters so every 6 hours our ship was going up and down vis-a-vis the land. Most of the buildings in old Bordeaux were...
