Bye Bye Tysoe

Finally things are starting to get exciting. I've packed up all my things in a bin-bag to sort when I get down to Essex to meet Chris. I say good-bye to Mum and family, pretty nervous now

Planning+packing

I'm in the midst of booking tickets, visas, insurance and making endless shopping and to-do lists, hope all this paperwork is worth it! It's exciting though, I've been thinking of this trip for such a long time it's become a bit of an abstract concept, but now I've started spending money on it...

Charly's Leaving Party

In order to ensure that I could see everyone, my Mum decided that it would be a good idea to organise a leaving party for any family and friends to attend before Chris and myself head down to Essex. This was at The George in Shipston where I used to work. It went...

Prep, prep and ,more prep

Still planning, and still lots to do. Have provisional itinerary and still awaiting confirmation if we can get a 4WD in Africa or we may have to startoff backpacking. Charly bought her sandals, very excited. Lots of shopping to do over next 2 weeks.

Quick update!

Just a quick update that we're at the airport in London and about to head home to Chicago. The rest of the pictures and videos will be posted once we get home. It's been an awesome time, and I'll be absurdly tired at the end of this. Meanwhile, go USA!

A day to relax

While my London agenda had been fully packed for the 2 days we were here, I failed to account for the effect of jet-lag on our desire to do and see things. We slept in, and so we missed the chance to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, but we did see the Horse Guard change...

London is a series of tubes

Our first glimpse of London outside the airport was its Underground. The Tube, as it’s known, is an incredible network of mostly underground lines crisscrossing the length and breadth of London, rivaling that of Paris and New York City. Well, at least in theory. What we were unaware of was...

Here. We. Go.

With the first World Cup game starting at 8:30 in the morning, I decided it was necessary to head to the soccer bar down the street to join in the festivities. I wasn’t the only one. Every table was full, with support divided roughly 50/50 between Mexican fans and people cheering against...

The end, and the beginning

It's nearly 11 on Saturday 5th June 2010 and in 48 hours Mark and i will be in Rio! Very weird thought. I'm spending time with my Mum and brother's home in while Mark is saying goodbye to his folks in Cornwall. We'll be keeping everyone up to date with where we are, what we have done and...
