We saw THOUSANDS of faces throughout the week! We teamed up with a RAD organization called Live Offensively (http://www.liveoffensively.com/lo/) who sponsored a tent for We As Human this year. The guys with Live Offensively were a BLAST! We were blessed to have an indoor, air conditioned place to sleep. I can't say so much for everyone else! Adam had a great idea to make a bed out of some of the conference chairs in our room.

Bed at Cornerstone 2010

The drive up was absolutely beautiful as we made the 30 hour treck across half of the US. Carrying 9,000+lbs of equipment in our trailor, we managed to pull into the Cornerstone 2010 grounds on Saturday evening. We took some time to scout out the camp and then headed out for some Hardy's burgers! Sunday it was all work as we set up our stage (one of 13 in the entire festival) called the Ammunition Room.

Setting up the Ammunition Room sponsored by Live Offensively, hosted by We As Human at Cornerstone 2010

Cornerstone was packed with over 300 Christian artists ranging from folk to rock to hip-hop and everything inbetween! There were something like 13 generator stages (stages that ran off of small generators) and one main stage. We played every day on our stage and one day on the Texas Stage (check out video here -->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBfYohd40U0). We drew some impressive crowds and even attracted the attention of Brian "Head" Welch (Whosoevers/formerly of Korn), Sonny Sandoval (Whosoevers/P.O.D.), and the guys from Skillet!

Playing the Texas Stage at Cornerstone 2010

We hosted some FANTASTIC bands on our stage including Upon This Rock and Don't Wake Aislin!

Upon This Rock with We As Human at Cornerstone 2010
I heard more Metal in one week than I've heard in my entire life! There were bands from all over the country and even groups from Mexico and Canada! So many fantastic networking opportunities and connections are made every year at Cornerstone.
By the end of the week, we were EXHAUSTED! Our equipment was covered in dirt and spit, our ears were throbbing, and we were all sore as we loaded up in the rig to head south. The week was truly an experience I will NEVER forget! We made new friends and ran into some old ones. It was a first for myself and for We As Human, but if I were to place a bet right now, it definitely will not be our last.

The Devil Wears Prada at Cornerstone 2010

Setting up for Skillet at Cornerstone 2010

Red at Cornerstone 2010

Switchfoot at Cornerstone 2010

Switchfoot bus at Cornerstone 2010

Massive Merch Tent at Cornerstone 2010

Justin Cordle at Cornerstone 2010

So the first show of the summer happened to be close to home (at least for everyone else in the band). It was Hope Fest 2010 and it was a great cause! A group of 100 kids came up from Oregon to the Union Gospel Mission to minister to the local hurting and homeless population in Spakane. We heard some great testimonies, and were honored to share our message and rock-n-roll!

Union Gospel Mission, Hope Fest 2010

The Worship Band at Hope Fest 2010

People worshipping at Hope Fest 2010

Here are some pics just from practice and our down time before we hit the road to Marietta, IL for Cornerstone! Steve even munched on some peanut m&m's (my favorite) which totally could have gotten him in trouble (he's on weight watchers!). Unfortunately, we didn't have all of the help that we had at the Panida (GREAT group of helpers by the way! Such a blessing!), so we spent the entire afternoon setting up in the FREEZING cold and rain. We did however meet a few interesting characters throughout the day. The pavilion that we played at was right next to the bus station, so all day long we had people walking past our set to catch their bus. Justin C. (Vocals) and Dave (Bass) had a couple encounters with some dudes who were anything but shy. Just a word to the wise, DON'T ask Dave if you can play his bass! We were, however, able to glean a good amount of knowledge from one particular gentleman who informed us that the sun is a large hydrogen bomb that is continually self refueling. This same gentleman plays every type of music everyday on his 4, 5, and 6 string basses, and a good guitar tone is attainable through a tree, a building, a light post, and a good 4x12 cab (all at once of course). =0)
Port Angeles is neighbors with Sequim, WA (like "Squid" with an "m" instead of a "d") which is the hometown of our very own lead guitarist Justin Forshaw. He really stole the show too I might add! The guys fingers (yes even when freezing cold) are BLAZING FAST!!! He has quite a fanbase in his hometown.

Justin Forshaw

At the end of the day, it was a GREAT show with some GREAT kids!

So, this was the first show We As Human has played in quite a few months. Our trip starts in Sandpoint, Idaho. Hometown to Justin Cordle (Vocals) and Adam Osbourne (Drums). The Panida (rhymes with "Canada") Theater is an old theater downtown. The show was opened up by a group from Oregon called Crown Point, then followed by 18 Shades (formerly Illusion 33) and then closed by We As Human. Truly an AWESOME experience as a first show for myself and the other new guitarist (and true shred master!) Justin Forshaw. We had a BLAST and totally brought justification to the tremendous amount of practice and work we had put in the week before!

Me!

It is the start of something new and good for everyone in the band, and the band as an entity. I truly hope the fans enjoy this lineup as much as I do and the rest of the guys.

Next stop, Port Angeles, WA!

All photos in this post are courtesy of Tina Marks.
