bald is beautiful

A few weeks ago, I decided to participate in an annual event to raise awareness and money for cancer research called St. Baldrick’s. Many of my friends at UVA had signed up to shave their heads for this event, and I realized that being in South Africa should not keep me from supporting the cause. While the event was going on in Charlottesville Saturday evening, a few of my SIT friends helped me shave my head, in solidarity with children who lose their hair during cancer treatment. I am very much at peace with my decision, which I have made in honor of my friend and brother Ibrahim Dandaji.
