Jaisalmer...& camel trekking!

I think Jaisalmer is most famous for it's fort & Desserts....so those were the top of our things to do.

Unfortunately we had a horrible start to our journey as on the overnight bus that we caught into the city from Udaipur Dan lost his shorts (they myteriously went 'missing' from the bus) which had all of our money & cash cards in. So when we finally arrived that afternoon after the trip from hell- which also took about 5 hours longer than we were told - our main mission was to find somewhere to get a cold beer!

Nightmare over & we actually really loved Jaisalmer. The people were so friendly and seemed to have a really great sense of humour.
Although it was incredibly hot we did the main sight seeing of the forts & organised to do a Camel Trek with the infamous 'Mr Desert', owner of Sahara Travels. This gentleman was a mere truckdriver until somebody one day took his photo...........which led him to winning the Mr Desert competition 5 times in a row! He then became the face of a cigarette ad campaign as well as doing a Coca-cola TV commercial and eventually opened his Travel Shop.

The Camel trek we did was amazing, we got to see the Dessert at sunset as well eat fresh Indian food cooked on a camp fire (the tastiest & spiciest food to date!) Just a minor complaint was that my bloody Camel bit me! I'm sorry but I had to take a photo just to show the sheer size of my bruise. Have you seen the size of their teeth?! :-)
