May 22 - Rydal

Rydal, United Kingdom

Went up to The Caves in the hill on the other side of Rydal Lake yesterday. It was cloudy and windy when we left, but didn't seem like rain. Wrong. First day I've been here where it's rained hard enough to get truly wet while walking. Luckily, I wore my heavy jacket with a hood and so only my pants got a little wet. Sarah, on the other hand, left her water-proof jacket at Nab for the first time and she ended up drenched. We took shelter in the cave for a short while, but figured we were just prolonging the inevitable, so we headed back down in the rain and stopped at the Badger Bar for some hot tea before heading back out for the half-mile to Nab in the rain that hadn't let up any.

Today was my last day at Nab. Not an easy one either. We had a meditation group of 16 for the weekend that left this morning and Sarah and I had to change and clean all of the rooms. But just to make it easy, we also had to change the configuration of every room...singles to double, and double to singles! Glad the day is done!!

I'm off to the Isle of Man by Ferry tomorrow and my first experience with couch surfing. I expect I'll have internet available at one of my hosts to get a blog up, but I can't be certain. If not, I'll be in Ireland in a week and will catch up there...
