May 27, 2011 - Castletown, Port St. Mary, & Port Erin

Port Saint Mary, Isle of Man

Got to Port Erin last night and took a walk with Jason up to Milner's Tower (built 1871) on the hill. It was really, really windy, especially at the top of the Tower, but I got some good photos...

This morning, I took the bus into Castletown on the southeast coast to see Rushen Castle...

and then back into Port St. Mary (also on the southeast coast) to take the Coastal Footpath all the way back into Port Erin on the southwest side of the island. A smaller island, the Calf of Man, which is a bird/animal Sanctuary, was about half-way, so you can follow in the photos. I took about 100 photos on the 4.5 hour trek (probably between 8-10 Miles), so you could all feel like you were there with me. Hope you don't get bored of seeing coastline!

After walking a total of about 6 hours non-stop today, I'm quite Knackered! Hopefully, I burned off some of the plentiful, great food I've been fed for the past 2 months!

I'll be heading back to Douglas tomorrow afternoon to stay with Nathan for the rest of my stay on the IOM. Plan on going to Peel on the west coast of the island directly across from Douglas and hopefully take in a day of practice racing before I go...depending of course, on the weather...
