A Pit Stop in Minnesota

Minneapolis, United States

Didnt do much in Mn. I was supposed to visit my grandparents that live here, but my grandfather had been on a business trip and he was too tired to come see me. I ate a nice subway sandwich and pickle chips (yum!) and prepared to wait my 5.30 hour layover. While I was waiting there was this interesting man sitting across from me. Completely decked out in Army gear--the hat, the tattoos, the shirt, the ring. He just looked like a rough strong older man. And he has this thing underneath his chair that is covered with a towel, and he asks me if I could watch over it while he goes somewhere. I say sure, and he comes back shortly after. He thanks me and picks up what was under his chair and takes the towel off, and theres this tiny furball of a kitty inside a fabric case. I see his rough look completely fade from his face as he proceeded to coo and scratch the side of the case. Absolute love and endearment emitted from him at that point and, even though I cant say I like cats, I was just amazed to see this side of a man who probably went through much of his life not having this goofy smile on his face. That moment was good enough to spread a calming joy inside me that lasted for sometime.
