New Years and the Ashes

Sydney, Australia

New Years Eve. Location: Lowenbrau, on the Rocks, Sydney.
German bar, loads of food, steins of beer, loads of schnapps, awesome fireworks and a bit of dancing!! What more can I add.

January 2nd. Ashes 5th Test, Day 1. After sleeping for nearly all of New Years day as we didnt get in till after 5.30am it was destination SCG. Warne, McGrath and Langer's last ever test match. Having got up in the morning to torrential rain, the first I'd seen in the last few weeks, we thought we werent going to see much cricket. We headed to the ground anyway, unbrellas and jumpers were the order of the day. We arrived at the ground at about 10ish with the rain now just drizzle but not looking like it was going to stop any time soon.
After grabbing some pies for breakfast and some drinks we headed to our seats. Within half an hour the clouds just vanished and were replaced by clear blue skys and very hot sun!! Oh dear, with all the rubbish weather we had forgotten the sun tan cream!!! Error!!!
That was going to hurt.
Not a bad days cricket and England didnt perform too badly on the whole, got to see Warney and McGrath bowl in their last ever test and saw KP and Freddy hammer the ball about a bit. Despite the sunburn a pretty enjoyable day..
