I think September is the best month to visit anywhere. Much less crowds and it's still warm. We went to Ireland for two weeks, six years ago. We had about one half hours worth of rain the entire trip. We really lucked out.

The only problem we had was, we were there for THE 9/11. Being from New York, it did give us some concern.
