Turns out it was Paris' fault. Sort of. You see, every time we add a blog entry to the site, we need to update the count of how many blogs, photos, etc. are in the target city. Usually, this is a quick matter, but for a city like Paris with its hundreds of blog entries and photos, it actually takes some time to figure out exactly how many of them are neither drafts nor spam, nor deleted, nor itinerary waypoints, but actual blog entries. And the way we were doing it wasn't very efficient to begin with.

So the short version is that now instead of taking a minute to update that stuff (and sometimes getting bored and giving up), it now takes about a tenth of a second. You may now commence blogging from a popular city without fear of reprisal from Blogabond!
