We're on our way!

Bend, United States

After weeks of preparing (selling, donating, giving away, throwing away 90% of our stuff, and packing the Tahoe so full there's barely enough room left for us!), we are finally on the road on the first part of our journey to Costa Rica. It was a little sad to leave our house - where we've lived for almost 1.5 years, gave birth to Benjamin and raised him thus far. There is a lot of security one gets out of having a "home", which we no longer have. We really did enjoy living there, and truthfully we are feeling a little homesick already. But that will wear off. Benjamin is doing fine so far. He was a little confused waking up at 12am in the car, and he may experience a little homesickness too, we'll see. Right now he is having fun with dad playing outside the hotel room on the balcony.

Today we are heading to La Pine to say goodbye to Makaylah, Heaven and Aden (my nieces and nephew that I've been babysitting for 5+ years). Going to miss them. Hopefully we will get to see them today on our way south, though we are having trouble contacting their grandmother who they are staying with. We may have to just show up and see what happens. We may also visit the Lava Fields or other interesting places on the way down. Perhaps we'll drive up Pilot Butte for old times sake (I used to live here in Bend when I was 11-12 years old)
