Another sad goodbye

We then had to return the hire car, which, upon doing so, they discovered a TEENY TINY scratch on the bumper, made from a little rock flinging up, and decided to charge us an exuberant amount to fix this, despite the rest of the car being full of scratches… go figure… they don’t fix this car at all, they just ‘claim’ things and make you pay them and then they leave the car untouched! Anyhow, we argued with them in many ways and have refused to pay them just yet and told them that we would look into all this, thank you very much. Hmph. Plus, to make it even more annoying, they put an X on the car diagram when it was picked up to state that there was indeed a scratch there previously, but when we stated this to them they said “oh, no, that’s for another scratch” but buggered if we could see another scratch… it’s all very very dodgy and made for a bad start to an already busy, sad day.

After lunch Bryan bundled our stuff into the car and prepared to take us to the train station. We had to say goodbye to Ann who was staying behind and as I’ve already stated, it was sad. She and Bryan have been so good to us over the past months, taking us in, housing us, feeding us, showing us about etc etc, they’re just lovely lovely people and we’re proud to be part of the family and to have spent so much time with them. It was only a quick trip to the train station where we then said goodbye to Bryan, which was just as equally sad and hard!

The train eventually came along and we jumped on and made our way to London, off that one and onto another to take us to Stevenage where Sue met us. It was great to see her again too and then see Patrick once we got home. We caught up on all the goss over the past week and then head off for a nice early nights sleep!
