My Third Week

Zhengzhou, China

Hello Everyone!
As usual, I've been keeping myself very busy. This week I started teaching classes. I am only teaching six hours a week but, in October the freshman classes finish mandatory military training and they will add them into my schedule. I will be teaching a total of 18 hours a week (9 two-hour classes). I've been using my extra time to shop for a computer printer, a vacuum, and planning lesson plans. Without Gabby's translation abilities, I probably would of ended up with a toaster, a bag of pork fat and would have never eaten a meal. (Randy's bringing the electronic translator he tried to get me to purchase before I left...Okay I admit it...you were right). My first week of teaching was a lot of fun. The students are very respectful and many seem eager to learn about our culture. On Friday night I Karaokeed for the first time! It seems that it only takes a few drinks and I'm screeching along with the best of them (Ashley would have had a marvelous time!). Seven of the teachers and I experienced some of the locale flare and went to a Karaoke bar to sing our hearts out to some Chinese and American Music (the more you drink the better you speak Chinese). It was a good time for all, and I really don't think anyone was judging our musical talent, otherwise the Gong would of sounded when I recited a song originally performed by the Mama's and the Papa's! Anyhow, I took a few photos of my fellow performers on a trip to Zhengzhou to get our medical and foreign expert certificates. Good news...Randy is coming to visit on October 2nd! I can't wait to give him a tour of the campus. We're planning to travel a bit so, I will be posting a few more photos. As for me, Its time to get back to studying. Miss you all. a few photos for your viewing pleasure...
