First Blog Entry

Calgary, Canada

Well as most of you know I'm leaving for Asia on Sept. 6th. I figure I'd give blogging a try but more then likely Facebook will be where I post everything.

Tiger Temple

Kanchanaburi, Thailand

One of the most interesting volunteer opportunities I was able to find is the chance to work with the endangered Bengal Tiger. This place is known as the Tiger Temple. It's only a couple hours west of Bangkok in the well known town of Kanchanaburi. They have 18 Bengal Tigers and more on the way. I was also looking into doing a 10 day meditation course but since this place is located at a Buddhist temple. I'll be learning the unique basics of Buddhism. There is also the famous Bridge over the River Kwai located here. It was very significant during WW2

Elephant Camp

Luang Prabang, Laos

Another great volunteering opportunity that grabbed my attention is the opportunity to work with the friendly giant the elephant. From what I can gather I'm mostly going to help out with the marketing, promotion, web affairs, press releases and such things for a new office they are opening in Northern Laos close to Luang Prabang.

4 Day trip to Vegas

Las Vegas, United States

So many things to do while here. I'm not a big gambler but I've been able to find plenty other things to do.

Grand Canyon is the first and foremost thing I want to see along with the Hoover Damn. The strip of course. A mob tour of Vegas that gives you a bit of history on how Vegas became the city it is today.

Power to the Peaceful Festival

San Francisco, United States

I went here last year and just loved what this city has to offer but this time I'm going just to see the one day music festival that Michael Franti puts on every year. Last year alone 70,000 people people showed up for this free concert.
