Pacha Mama

Pacha Mama

This is the entrance to Pacha Mama (Quechua for Mother Earth), a ruin at the highest point on Isla Amantani. The second highest point on the island is the site of the Pacha Tata ruin (Father Earth). Apparently half of the islands hamlets (2000 people in total) celebrate the equinox here, while the other half celebrate at Pacha Tata.
