7 days until departure

We spent the day packing. But after looking at a one bedroom condo broken down into boxes, we have a ridiculous amount of books. I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to keep all of my text books. By the time I get to a place where I can actually pick any of them back up, they will...

Jumping in Chicago

Taking advantage of a business training near Chicago to take some days off and discover the city. This metallic bean is emblematic from the city, along with its skyscrapers (very impressive when you're used to european-like type of cities)

Emerge and See

We climbed rapidly to Indian Garden up the Bright Angel Trail the next morning, embraced there after so much dryness by shade and water and lots of green plants. The mule trains we passed held uncomfortable people that all looked like they would rather be walking. It turns out that having...

Sea World!

San Diego is lovely... much, much, much nicer to look at than Venice Beach. The drive down here was really fun but we could only stop in [[United-States/Laguna-Beach]] for 20 minutes because we had to get the car to San Diego by 2... we didn't actually manage this and had to pay late fees...

one last hurrah

I'm not going to post much on here, as having two blogs would be redundant and confusing, but I am going to update this map as I decide where I am going next. I stop updating or forget for a week or so, dont fret. If my course starts taking me closer and closer to the middle east, then its time...

Meat

When it was finally time to leave, we knew to eat early and hike out at dusk, making half of the Tonto traverse before slapping down our bags and sleeping out in the open. The one snake we met on the trail rattled softly and contrasted sharply against the green scrub. We gave him some space. ...

Watch Your Step

Between the shade and the creek and the pleasant company of other campers, in the absence of further close encounters, and with a sense of vast distance between ourselves and the world at large, my frame of mind improved. A hike down Clear Creek canyon never quite got us to the Colorado...

On the move again

Venice Beach has been good but a little bit weird. Our hostel is literally round the corner from the beach so all the weirdos that hang around there are shouting outside our window everynight. It's not that bad really but I wouldn't like to live here. We went on a driving tour of L.A and all...
