Long flight from Chicago, 14 hours, but very few people on the plane. Customs was a bit slow, but our bags were waiting after we got through. Changed dollars into rupees and headed out the door. Rajat, our taxi driver, was waiting with a "John Gleason - Global Arts Village" sign and smile on his...

Day 14

This last day was a blur. After a lazy morning at the hotel and after I bought the most beautiful carpet I've ever seen, we hired a driver, a good one this time, and drove all over New Delhi. A stop at Masjid-i-Jahan Numa was well worth it, except we were cautioned not to walk around in the...

Day 13 (Continued)

The honking of horns, the extreme filth and poverty roadside and the eventual din of New Delhi, flooded roads and all, reminded me constantly of what a horrid country this really is. Not stopping at Murthra might have been a good thing because thanks to all that traffic we didn't arrive at our...

Day 12

We woke up very early and bid a fond (truly fond) farewell to Palden and Dorji before catching our plane to New Delhi. Our luck continued as we flew above the clouds and had spectacular views of the snow-capped Himalayas, including Mount Everest.

Day 1

We arrived in New Delhi quite late last night and thus didn't sleep much overnight, although the hotel was lovely. We checked out around 8:30 a.m. and arrived at the airport quite early -- lots of time to kill and nothing of interest a the airport. Ellery is essentially on a hunger strike,...

XX All India Student Chef Competition, 2006

With the faint hopes of winning, our (me, timul and jaideep) preparations were more focused on packing and traveling but not for competition as we have been told by our super seniors that we dont need to hope against the hopes. Tickets were booked and some practice were put into practice for...
