Pool with a view

We made our way from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to Livingstone in Zambia. What a crazy journey! It only took about 45minutes all up, including going through immigration in Zambia but it was a crazy 45 minutes and a little bit nerve wracking too. The trip took two different taxis. One to...

Nightime walk

Had a lovely day today, relaxing by the pool before taking a walk to a restaurant in town in the evening. Although we made it perfectly fine we were in fact a little scared with dodgy road surfaces the whole way only to be ignored once at the restaurant resulting with us taking a taxi in the end...

Day 44

Today it's our 44th day of our travels so far and we just can't believe it! We had a nice day not doing much as the weather was blisteringly hot, but in the late afternoon talk a nice walk into town amazed at how built up Livingstone is.

4 minutes left to check-in!

We decided to go against our gut instincts by leaving at 6 for the airport, by leaving at 7 as it wasn't far to the airport... BIG MISTAKE!! There was so much traffic leaving us arriving at Europcar and our panicked expressions meant the guy kindly driving us to the terminal himself so we got...

Grub's Up

My desire to experience as much African culture as possible lead to one of the more interesting dinners I have eaten, not just on this trip but in my life. Fried vinkubala, or caterpillars to you and me, was not a meal I particularly enjoyed, and it is safe to say I wont be eating them again....

A Night To Remember

Take a full moon, a cloudless sky, Vic Falls and a sprinkling of stars, mix them all together and what do you get? Quite simply the single most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life - a lunar rainbow. I had been to the falls a few days before full moon, and at first wasn't sure if I...

Following Livingstone's Trail

Having finally made my way from Lethlakane, where I said so long to Mum and Dad, to Kasane I was all set to cross the border between Botswana and Zambia, but not before a rather testing night in my tent. When it rains in Africa it rains, and when that rain is a tropical storm anybody not in...

Zambia/Zimbabwe!

With news of a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe we settled on the Zambia side and got ready for a bit of R & R and activities: We settled down with the locals of Livingstone and haggled on wood carvings, eat crispy chicken and drank Mosi! We witnessed a village chiefs new wife's kitchen party on...
