台鹽通霄精鹽廠
Roughly translates as Taiwan Salt Company's Tongsiao Salt Factory

There were
鹽山 Salt mountains

Former state-owned company. This site is their largest plant. The only place still producing food salts in Taiwan. Mountains of salt were great for photos. Also visited the water bottling and other salt product assembly lines.

Our tour itinerary originally scheduled us to be in 新竹工研院 for 2007-07-17 but instead we came to the Tai Salt factory in Tongsiao. Tongsiao location seen mentioned on an inspection checklist on a wall and Cash confirmed later we were in Tongsiao, we didn't go to Hsinchu due to government inspections at the locations originally scheduled.

Safety tip: Move slowly-but-surely, ensure you move with secure footing when walking the salt mounds, two of the younger ones in our tour ended up having bleeding skin abrasions after slipping.
