Day 12

Korcula, Croatia

Today was a slow, lazy day around Korcula. A visit to the Marco Polo museum, a stroll around town, swimming on one side of the city, then on the other. Finally, we took in the traditional Moreska sword dancing show.

Day 13

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Today we left Korcula, first by water taxi, and then a two-hour spectacular drive along the coast to reach our final destination, Dubrovnik, and our nicest hotel. Arriving around 1 pm, we were met by Antonia, our JayWay representative, who was just as lovely in person as on the phone. We hung inside our (viewless) room for a bit, then the seaside "beach" area for linch and a swim, before walking into the Old Town, arriving just in time to take an early evening stroll along the town wall. And it was beautiful and enchanting, as we were told it would be.

Then it was time for a dinner stroll through the Old Town, teeming with people and restaurants and life. A very nice evening.

Day 14

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

It wouldn't be one of our classic Summer trips if we didn't hit at least 3 countries, and today we did that by going to Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina. A formerly war-torn town in a formerly war-torn country, here you can really see why "Yugoslavia" was never really one country, as the Muslim influence here is, while relatively benign (few hajibs, etc.), so contrasting to everything else we've seen. The old bridge is a spectacular site, and we were able to see one of the bridge divers jump, after walking around the small town streets lined with vendors of every kind, from cheap trinkets to some very nice art galleries. All in all, a nice diversion for the day.

Home in Dubrovnik was another evening stroll on our second-to-last day of vacation.

Day 15 - The End

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Our last day was,as intended, pretty devoid of anything substantial. Laid out by the pool. Went parasailing. Walked the Old Town for dinner and souvenir shopping. And that's all she wrote.

Welcome to my travels. On this site you'll find recent trips and some very old trips. You'll note that for some trips I wrote very detailed reports (at least in the beginning), for others, I didn't even take notes of where I was on what dates. Nevertheless, I've done my best to document, to...
