The Wolverines have landed

Did you know that Lao Airlines, the government-run carrier in Laos, is not required to make its safety records public? For that reason, many companies and foreign governments apparently advise employees to find other means of transportation. However, after much due diligence, Christi and I...

Still lovin' Laos

Apologies again everyone but have had a bit of difficulty getting our blog up in Laos. Last time we wrote we had not long arrived here in Laos and were absolutely loving it. Well our opinion certainly hasn't changed but we move on again tomorrow to Bangkok and have to leave this stunning country...

Cruising down the Mekong, Day 2

Spent most of the evening in Pak Beng trying to dodge a Laos Professor who'd latched onto me at the guesthouse. Apparently he specialised in earthworms. "You've heard of earthworm?", he asked me during our first conversation. I knew he was a Professor and that he was working in the area. ...

Beer Lao Beer Lao Beer Lao

Laos is just spectacular....there is no other way to describe it. After much hassle with all the pleasures that come with travelling Thailand, Laos was simply heaven. Louang Phrabang is a beautiful old french colonial town, home to the most prized bhuddha in all of Laos and some of the most...

Journey to the Centre of the Earth ........and other adventures

For anyone planning to travel from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng by bus, please heed the following advice: a)Under no circumstances feel it necessary to go out the night before and get blind drunk. b)Colly would strongly recommend sleeping in a bed the night before and not the toilet...
