When in Rome... Do as the tanned sisters do!

We had to get up really early this morning (around 4) to get our flight to Rome. Our flight was pretty good but I wasn't feeling well. We got to Rome and I started to feel better. We walked to our hostel from the train station. It's called Pink Floyd and we walk through a nice garden to get...

Tosta, eh?

I should be doing my assignment right now, but my brain just doesn’t want to think in Italian at the moment. I am supposed to make up a short fable about a character in Rome, and all I have so far is that there is going to be an owl flying around the city at night, doing what…I haven’t quite...

I primi giorni, the first days

Well, I have finally made it to Rome and gotten settled in enough to update you on my life… Wednesday morning I woke up at 4:00am. I forgot for a second why I was awake, and then remembered, oh yeah, I’m flying to Italy for three months. Wade (my brother) took me to the airport and saw me...

At home at last (well my new home for the next few weeks)

The flight from Dubai to Rome was enjoyable. I had a great chat (partially in Italian and partially in English) with Andre who is a ship builder in Napoli, but soon to move to Palermo in Sicily. I had decided to try and stay awake until I arrived in Alghero so after finishing chatting with...

Roma Tomatoes

My first impression of Rome was not great. I couldn't see past the ever-present graffiti on the walls, doors and trains. It's hard to imagine a place so steeped in history and culture as being a working, evolving city. As soon as we got to the airport we easily found our way to the bus...

living in Italy in search of "HIM"

I happen to be born lucky.Have been born lucky-(I always sucked at-in English-even failed it in college once-or should I say 'University.' ) I was born in 1963. Oh those were the days when kids got to be real kids.We played outside in the neighborhood, before the word 'Hood' even existed. We...

In search of the proverbial" LIFE PARTNER" in Italy.

I am in Italy again. I think that this is the fifth time I am living in here-do you consider three months living somewhere? I do.Get an apt- (in another language,) go on dates (communicate through dictionaries,) pay rent and try to find work- without papers-now I get what feels like to try to...

In the footsteps of Julius Cesear

Rome was amazing. For our first morning in Rome, we started a walking tour of ancient Rome. The first stop was the grandiose Colosseum. We then continued on through the Roman Forum, where Julius Cesear once roamed. At the end of our walking tour of ancient Rome was the incredible Pantheon,...

Planes, Trains, Buses & Boats

Getting to Rome was the easy part! After arriving, we took a train to Termini station, where we roamed around and found some cheap Pizza. We then made our way to Venice, which took one train, a bus, another bus to a plane, a plane and another bus. Needless to say, we were exhausted.

Rom
