PADI Open Water

Fronteras, Rio Dolce to Utila

On a dull and overcast day that threatened rain, we left Captain John's Marina on January 3rd to travel to Texan Bay Marina which is a safe stop much closer to Livingston (at the mouth of the RIO DOLCE RIVER). We were travelling with two other boats: Honah Lee II and Sea Tryst. As we toured...

Utila

The next morning Emily, Marcus and I began a very long day of travelling which started with a boat to Puerto Barrios, then a taxi to the border followed by a bus to San Pedro Sula and then another bus to La Ceiba. We started at about 8:30am and didn't stop moving until about 9:00pm that evening...

Just an update!

It has been very exiting here! We are trying to be as much of the culture as we can be. We have been to baseball games, (not so different from the ones at home but more fun!), been to 2 different churches and participated in a Harvest Festival here in Utila. Have not been diving in a few days...

Diving in Utila

We dove twice yesterday. The water is absolutely beautiful! It is about 84-86 degrees. Bath water! Among the 2 seahorses, 10,000 hookworms, and the 6 pipefish, the aquatic scene is just breathtaking!!!!! The reef is gorgeous and full of life. We are looking forward to doing some more...

Island Paradise

At 9am the following morning I was on a ferry to Utila (one of the Bay Islands off the Caribbean coast of Honduras) with Jana and some others we had met in Livingston, and eagerly awaiting the next stage of the trip. As we approached the port and the smell of salty air arrived on a damp breeze...

Utila Island

We took a water taxi to Utila from Roatan. It took about an hour and a half and was pretty bumpy! We did see dolphins on the way, so that was cool! Utila is a really small island with a fishing village. We didn't really do much there. When we went to Water Caye (One of the 11 small Cayes...
