Majestic Ifugao

Banaue, Philippines

Majestic best describes the northern Philippines province of Ifugao. The famous province is a long drive north from Manila. After passing San Jose, the journey gets more exciting as the route follows the wide Pamapanga River Valley. It rises over the astonishing Dalton Pass, which is 3000 feet high, and descends into the Cagayan Valley heading into the Cordillera mountains.

One of the highlights of Ifugao are the Banaue Rice Terraces, which are vast, interconnected strips of rice terraces, which are recognized as one of the 5 beautiful sites in the Philippines. Because of its enormous beauty, the governor of Ifugao has made the preservation of this site the highest priority. The people, dialect, and the province are termed Ifugao which means People of the Earth. The people of Ifugao are known to be an independent agricultural society. For the Ifugao, their culture revolves around the rice, which is considered a prestige crop.

Send a Compliment

Ifugao is a very rich tribe. But ive heard news that since they are considered Indigenous People, they get the lowest benefits in their country.

the benefits theyve been getting is low in relative to the other common citizens of the country. unfortunately, the Ifugaos dont know much about this.

because everything cannot be be shared by everyone equally. sad but its reality. and there's no way for you to contest that. unless you isolate yourself.

it would be nice if these IPs be sent to school for education. so they know what their rights are. and they can fight for it.
